I've added music by the rock group Guster to my list of favorite music. My daughter, Julianne, 'discovered' them at a local concert and shared their CD with me. Ever since, I've been hooked. The college age trio met at Tufts University in 1991 and created an interesting blend of rock music, melodic vocals and latin percussion sounds. Drummer Brian Rosenworcel, plays his drumset, congas, bongos and cymbals all with his bare hands, only occasionially using drumsticks.
If you want to hear what they sound like, you can go to the multimedia page on their website. I'd recommend you select "Barrel of a Gun" from the audio links. It's a good song and pretty typical of their sound. You will note that the lyrics don't really make sense. To me, they almost seem like random phrases that just sound good when put to their unique style of music. Guster members, however, describe themselves as "stenographers...transcribing life and putting a little melody under it," so, go figure. Whatever the lyrics mean, I find some of the songs quite compelling and I go through the day not being able to get whatever song I last heard out of my head.
