Social Security Choice and Reform

There is a lot of discussion these days about social security reform and personal accounts. Of course, I don't think the government should MAKE people save for retirement at all. That should be something free people choose to do or not do on their own. But at least with a personal account you would own your retirement savings instead of just turning it over to the government to immediately spend, as is the case now. If you want to see how the Cato Institute's plan for reforming social security would affect you personally, you can use this handy calculator. You type in your age and current earnings and it compares your retirement benefits under the current system with expected benefits under a personal account system.
