Don't Make a Federal Case Out of It

Some of you know of my newly acquired interest in baseball. This came about due to my 13 yr old son McKay getting into Little League and the three or four times he and I have watched the Ken Burns "History of Baseball" videos I bought for him on eBay. Now, Senator John McCain is threatening to involve Congress in setting baseball drug testing standards. This article, written by my Cato colleague Gene Healy, examines the tendency people in Congress have to make a federal case out of everything.

Gene is also author of the recent book Go Directly to Jail: The Criminalization of Almost Everything.
